WHAT TO DO IF YOUR WATER SUPPLY LINE LEAKS

When you turn on your faucet, you get fresh, clean water at your fingertips—for drinking, cooking, cleaning and bathing. It’s delivered directly to you via a single supply water line from the street, under your property, and into your home.

A water supply line normally works perfectly for years. But you may have trouble if you notice a sudden drop in water pressure, a discoloration of the water or a recurring wet area in your yard. In these cases, contact your local waterline expert to conduct an inspection for a potential water line repair.

How to Find a Leak in Your Water Line.

An electronic device is often used to determine the exact location of the water line. If necessary, for exact water line leak detection, the line is charged with nitrogen which helps locate the leak. Depending on the size and location of the leak, professionals assess the scope of work necessary to correct the problem before any work begins.

There are a variety of reasons why your water line may need servicing. In some instances, tree roots can get into the pipe. Other causes of water line failure include mineral build up and residue, high water pressure, ground movement, acidic soil conditions, freezing and thawing, plus general deterioration over a long period of time.

Repairing the Leak.

In many instances, only a section of the water line needs to be replaced. During water line repair, the faulty sections of pipe are replaced.   Once installed, the repaired or replaced water line is pressure tested for leaks. A municipal inspection is usually performed for final job approval. Steps are then taken to restore your property grounds to their original condition.
