A Sewered City That Is Still Being Built
Meridian is one of the fastest-growing cities in Idaho, and its sewer system reflects that: most of town is served by municipal sewer, with new mains extending outward as subdivisions are platted and built. That growth creates two very different kinds of sewer work, and Shamrock Construction & Excavation does both. On the new-construction side, we trench and install sewer services for new builds, connecting homes and commercial buildings to the mains that serve their streets. On the existing-home side, we repair and replace the lines that have been quietly aging under Meridian's older neighborhoods.
Then there is the transition work unique to a city that grew over farmland: legacy county parcels still running on older septic systems, now surrounded by city services. Digging Sewer Lines in Meridian Ground
Sewer work in Meridian comes with conditions worth respecting. The city's flat terrain means sewer lines live or die by their grade; with little natural fall to work with, a line has to be laid to precise slope or waste stops moving. The silty loam soils common on the valley floor hold moisture and can slough in a deep trench, so proper shoring, bedding and compaction are not optional. And in neighborhoods near the old irrigation network fed by Five Mile and Nine Mile creeks, seasonally high groundwater can turn a routine dig into a dewatering job. We plan for all of it before the bucket touches dirt.
