Emergency Sewer, Water Line & Septic Repair in Boise
Sewage backing up. A water line that let go. A septic tank that will not stop rising. Our Boise crew answers the phone at any hour and shows up with the excavator, camera and parts to fix it, not just look at it.
Is This an Emergency? / 01
Problems That Should Not Wait Until Morning
Some underground failures can be scheduled for next week. These cannot. Each one gets worse by the hour, and the longer it runs the more you pay for cleanup, restoration and the repair itself.
- Sewage backing up into tubs, showers, floor drains or the lowest toilet in the house
- A burst or leaking water service line: no pressure, water surfacing in the yard, a spinning meter or a sudden wet spot along the driveway
- A septic tank overflowing, a high-level alarm sounding or effluent pooling over the drain field
- A sinkhole, sunken trench or collapsed pipe opening up in the yard or under a driveway
- A sewer or water line hit during digging, fence work or a landscaping project
- A frozen or split line during a Treasure Valley cold snap
- Water running toward the foundation or into a crawl space with nowhere to go
If you are looking at any of these, stop reading and call (208) 919-4260. We will walk you through the next five minutes over the phone while a truck gets loaded.
First Five Minutes / 02
What to Do Before We Arrive
A few calm steps in the first minutes limit the damage and make the repair faster once the crew is on site. Our longer guide on what to do in a sewer or water line emergency covers the details. The short version:
-
Stop the flow
For a water leak, close the main shutoff valve at the house or the meter. For a sewer backup, stop running water anywhere in the home and do not flush. Every gallon you put down the drain comes back up.
-
Keep people and pets clear
Raw sewage and standing water are health hazards. Block off the area, and if water is anywhere near outlets or appliances, shut off power to that part of the house at the panel if you can reach it safely.
-
Document the damage
Take photos and video of the water, the sewage, the sinkhole, all of it, before anything gets cleaned up. Your insurance company will want it, and it helps us understand what failed.
-
Call us, not a search engine
Skip the chemical drain cleaner and the rental snake. A line that has failed underground needs a camera, a locate and usually an excavator. Call (208) 919-4260 and we will tell you honestly whether it can wait.
How We Respond / 03
One Crew That Can Diagnose It and Dig It
Most emergency calls in Boise go to a plumber first. The plumber runs a snake, finds the problem is out past the foundation, and tells you to call an excavation contractor in the morning. That is a night of sewage in your basement you did not need.
Shamrock is the excavation contractor. We bring the camera, the locating gear and the machine on the first trip, so the same crew that finds the break is the one that fixes it.
- Phone answered 24 hours a day by someone who can dispatch a truck
- Camera inspection and line locating to find the exact failure point
- Leak detection and pressure testing for water service lines
- Emergency excavation, spot repair or full line replacement on the spot
- Trenchless pipe bursting and lining when the yard or driveway is worth saving
- Septic tank pumping coordination, riser and baffle repair, drain field diagnosis
- Backfill, compaction and grading so the fix does not create a drainage problem
Once the emergency is stabilized, the permanent fix is handled by our regular sewer line repair, water line repair and septic repair crews, with a written estimate before the follow-up work starts.

What We Handle After Hours
Everything below is work we do every week on a normal schedule. The difference on an emergency call is that we come now, stabilize the problem, and get you back to running water and working drains before we talk about the long-term fix.
Sewer Backups & Collapsed Lines
Root-choked clay lines, crushed pipe under a driveway, a bellied section holding sewage. We camera the line, clear or bypass the blockage and repair or replace the failed section. Read the seven warning signs that usually show up first.
Burst & Leaking Water Service Lines
The line from the meter to the house is yours to fix, and when it fails you lose water and often flood the yard. We locate the break, expose it and repair or replace the line the same trip. Here is how to spot an underground water line leak early.
Septic Overflows & Drain Field Failures
An alarm, a backed-up tank or effluent surfacing in the yard. We diagnose whether it is the tank, the baffle, the pump or the drain field, coordinate pumping and get the system draining again. Know the five signs of septic failure.
Sinkholes, Collapses & Struck Utilities
A hole opening in the lawn or a line cut during a project needs an excavator and an operator who knows what else is buried there. We shore, expose and repair, with utility locates called in as required.
Flooding Toward the Foundation
When irrigation, snowmelt or a spring storm sends water at the house and it has nowhere to go, we cut a relief path and get the water moving away before it reaches the crawl space or basement.
Failed Connections at the Main
A bad tap at the city main or a separated joint at the property line is a public works problem and a private one at the same time. We handle the private side and coordinate with the city or district on theirs.
Where We Respond / 05
24 Hour Coverage Across the Treasure Valley
We are based in Boise and run emergency calls throughout Ada County and Canyon County. Arrival time depends on where you are and what the roads look like, and we will give you a straight answer on that when you call.

Boise's older neighborhoods on the Bench and in the North End still run on clay and other aging sewer laterals that fail without warning. New subdivisions in Meridian, Star and Kuna sit on cobble that chews through cheap pipe. Nampa and Caldwell have irrigation laterals and high water tables that turn a small leak into a flooded yard overnight.
Thirty years of digging in this valley means we usually know what we are going to find before the bucket hits the dirt, and we bring the right parts the first time. Read more about why sewer lines fail in Boise homes and what Treasure Valley soil does to underground work.
Common Questions / 06
Emergency Service Questions, Answered
Do you really answer the phone at night and on weekends?
Yes. (208) 919-4260 rings through to the crew 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. You will talk to someone who can dispatch a truck, not a call center. If a line is backing up or water is running where it should not be, call now and we will tell you what to do while we are on the way.
How fast can you get to my property?
Response time depends on where you are in the Treasure Valley, road conditions and what else is happening that night. We are based in Boise and work in Meridian, Eagle, Star, Nampa, Caldwell and Kuna every week, so most emergency calls get a crew on site the same day or night. We give you an honest arrival window when you call.
Is an emergency call more expensive than a scheduled job?
After-hours mobilization can add to the cost, and we will tell you that up front before anyone rolls. What we do not do is guess at a repair in the dark. We stabilize the problem first, then camera or locate the line, then give you a clear written price for the permanent fix. Free estimates apply to the repair itself.
Should I call a plumber or an excavation contractor for a sewer backup?
If the problem is inside the house, a plumber. If the problem is in the line between the house and the street, or in the septic tank and drain field, you need a contractor who can dig, camera, and repair or replace the line. Shamrock does all of that with one crew, so you are not waiting on a second company to show up with an excavator.
What should I do while I wait for the crew?
Stop using water and do not flush if sewage is backing up. Shut off the main water valve if a supply line has burst. Keep people and pets away from standing water or sewage, turn off power to any flooded area if it is safe to reach the panel, and take photos for your insurance company. Then keep the phone handy so we can find the property.
Will my homeowners insurance cover an emergency sewer or water line repair?
It depends on your policy. Sudden pipe bursts and resulting water damage are often covered, while sewer backups and buried service lines usually require a rider or endorsement. We document the failure with camera footage and photos and give you a detailed invoice so you have what you need to file a claim. Check with your agent early.
