Sewer Line Installation in Boise & Canyon County

Yes. New sewer laterals in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell and the surrounding cities require a permit from the city or county with jurisdiction, and the line has to pass inspection before it is backfilled. If the connection involves a new tap into the public main, there are usually connection fees and a right-of-way permit for work in the street as well. We handle the permitting and schedule the inspection as part of every installation.

Deep enough to sit below the frost line and to keep a steady downhill grade from the building to the main. In the Treasure Valley that usually means the trench gets deeper the closer it gets to the street, because the city main is often well below the surface. We set the depth from the elevation of the main back to the house, not the other way around, so the line drains by gravity without a pump wherever possible.

Often, yes, if a public sewer main runs near your property and the city or sewer district allows the connection. Converting from septic to sewer involves a new lateral to the main, properly abandoning the old tank, and connection fees set by the city. A lot. The valley floor is layered with clay, sand and river cobble, and it changes from one lot to the next. Cobble slows trenching and has to be kept out of the bedding zone so it cannot point-load the pipe. Clay holds water and needs careful compaction so the trench does not settle. During site prep, whenever you can. Trenching a sewer line across an open lot, before the driveway is poured and the yard is landscaped, is faster and cheaper than cutting through finished work later. It also lets us coordinate the sewer trench with water line installation and other utilities in one mobilization.
