Installation, repair, pumping and inspections for septic systems in the Boise foothills and on properties beyond the reach of city sewer.
Boise Septic / 01
Septic Country Starts Where the Sewer Main Ends
Most of Boise proper is on municipal sewer, but the map has edges — and a lot of great properties sit past them. Climb toward the foothills off Bogus Basin Road, follow the benches southeast toward the desert, or head out along the rim roads on the city's outskirts, and you'll find homes that have always run on septic and always will. Acreage properties, older homesteads that predate sewer expansion, and new custom builds on land the mains will never reach all depend on a well-designed onsite system.
That's the work Shamrock has been doing around Boise for more than 30 years. We excavate, install, repair and maintain complete septic systems, and because we're an excavation contractor first, the digging, grading and backfill are done right — not subbed out.

Why Boise Ground Makes Septic Design Matter
A septic system is only as good as the soil it drains into, and around Boise that soil changes fast. Foothills lots often sit on shallow, decomposed granite and rocky slopes where finding enough usable ground for a drain field takes experience and sometimes creativity — sloped sites can call for careful layout so effluent moves through the field evenly instead of surfacing downhill. Out on the flats and near the Boise River's old channels, cobbly alluvial soils drain almost too fast, while pockets of tight silt and clay barely drain at all.
We've dug test holes and set tanks in all of it. When we install or repair a system, we plan around what the ground on your specific lot will actually do: tank placement that keeps pumping access practical, drain field siting that respects setbacks from wells and waterways, and backfill compacted so the yard above the system settles evenly instead of sinking into trench lines.
Idaho winters matter too. Shallow components and poorly bedded lines take a beating from freeze-thaw cycles, so depth, bedding and insulation decisions are part of every install we do — not an afterthought.
Warning Signs / 03
When a Boise Septic System Is Asking for Help
Septic problems rarely start as emergencies — they become emergencies when the early signs get ignored. Call us for an inspection if you notice any of the following:
Slow Drains Throughout the House
One slow fixture is a plumbing issue; every fixture draining slowly points toward the tank or drain field.
Odors in the Yard
Sewage smell near the tank lids or over the field means the system isn't processing waste the way it should.
Wet or Lush Patches
A stripe of bright green grass or soggy ground over the drain field — especially in a dry Boise summer — is effluent surfacing.
Backups After Heavy Use
Holiday weekends and full houses shouldn't push sewage back up the line. If they do, the system is at or past capacity.
Buying or selling a home on septic in the Boise foothills? An inspection before closing is cheap insurance compared to discovering a failed drain field afterward. And if your property is close enough to a sewer main that connecting makes more sense than replacing an old system, we do that work too — see our Boise sewer services.
